Plantvoice offers an innovative breakthrough for upland crops through its as-a-service sensor technology.
RIPAM-PV Project

Using its patented sensor technology, Plantvoice provides real-time data on plant health, optimising irrigation and preventing plant disease in areas where water resources are limited. Advanced algorithms not only monitor plant stress, but also predict and prevent disease, which is essential in harsh climatic conditions. The API interface allows the integration of all other types of data to optimise agricultural management, avoiding technological fragmentation. The patented, minimally invasive sensor provides an unprecedented level of accuracy based on internal physiological data, enabling timely intervention. Plantvoice improves water use efficiency, prevents disease and optimises upland farming. Plantvoice is a biocompatible micro-sensor that can be inserted into the plant stem to analyse sap in real time. It monitors flow and salinity by detecting any type of stress: water, biotic or abiotic, with early diagnosis of problems compared to standard sensors. It addresses two fundamental needs: maximising productivity and optimising water use in areas with limited resources. The cloud platform integrates data from other sensors, eliminating fragmentation and improving the use of smart farming technologies. It has a nationally recognised patent and a PCT.

Plantvoice’s value proposition is in line with the ‘Sustainability, Mountains and Energy Resources’ priority of the Smart Specialisation Strategy (S3), as it addresses several critical aspects within this strategic area. Sustainability is a key pillar of Plantvoice’s proposal, offering a targeted approach to optimising water resources, which is crucial in mountain areas where water is an increasingly precious commodity.

The detailed analysis provided by Plantvoice enables targeted irrigation management, reducing waste and improving efficiency, in perfect harmony with the S3 sustainability objectives. Plant disease prevention is another important aspect in a mountainous context. Plantvoice not only monitors plant stress, but also provides useful information to prevent plant diseases, reducing the need for chemical interventions that are harmful to the environment and human health. This aspect of sustainability is crucial and helps to promote greener farming practices with less environmental impact. Plantvoice also indirectly contributes to greater energy efficiency in agriculture by reducing water wastage and the use of chemical treatments, which is a key element in the S3 framework for sustainability and energy resources. The integration of Plantvoice data with other technologies is fully consistent with S3. This synergy promotes the efficient use of available technological resources in agriculture, avoiding waste and resource fragmentation, a key aspect in the context of sustainability and resource optimisation. Plantvoice’s patented technology is a unique competitive advantage that fits perfectly with the S3 strategy’s priority of promoting innovation and advanced solutions to the specific challenges of the mountain environment.
